Course Description:
Foundations of Childcare is new and improved! The material is all online and self-paced. You will discover multiple topics related to a career in child care, such as, child development, health and safety to designing your space and managing your business. The purpose of this course is to prepare you for a career in licensed child care. Above all, to be a quality child care provider in our community. In addition, you will become more knowledgeable about the child care sector, gain understanding of child development and acquire insight into business management. This is an entry level course designed for anyone wishing to enter the child care field, therefore, no prior training required.
Materials:
All required materials are included in the course fee and found under the materials tab of each unit. Pick up optional resources from childhood connections. Including the book “What should your child be doing?”.
This course has no final exam
Certification:
This course offers the opportunity to train adults wanting to enter the child care field. It also satisfies the requirements for multiple fields in childcare, such as:
- Responsible Adult Certification
- School Age Care Courses
- Family Child Care Training Courses
In addition, participants will receive a certificate of completion as a result of successfully participating in this course. This certificate will clearly spell out the units, subjects and training hours completed, and therefore satisfies the current BC Child Care Licensing Regulations to work in Licensed Child Care. As a result, you will be qualified to start your career in a licensed child care setting.
This course does NOT, however, offer any credits towards the ECE certificate.
