Interested in joining our Board of Directors?

The Childhood Connections Board of Directors is made up of a team of dedicated professionals and parents that provide direction and governance of the society. Directors must be at least 18 years of age.

Requirements:

  1. A minimum of 80% board meeting attendance is required over the course of the year.
  2. Board terms are two years.
  3. Board meetings are typically once per month, with a break in summer and over Christmas.
  4. Applicants should plan to spend approximately 2-5 hours per month on subcommittee, board meetings and preparation.

Saskia Battersby

President

Saskia Battersby is a dedicated advocate for social impact, serving as Board President of the Childhood Connections Society, where she champions initiatives that support families and children in the Okanagan. A proud mother and experienced product management executive, she brings her leadership experience to supporting the staff and fellow board members to ensure the ongoing success of the society.

Samantha Krulitski

Secretary

Samantha is a Chartered Professional Accountant with 15 years of industry experience and has been a professor at Okanagan College for the past six years. With a passion for education and community engagement, she brings a wealth of financial expertise to the board. In her free time, Samantha enjoys exploring the outdoors through hiking, biking, and camping adventures.

Robert Southam

Director at Large

Robert Southam is a seasoned entrepreneur and business leader with a diverse background in hospitality, technology, and childcare. Early in his career, Robert owned and operated a successful restaurant, where he was mentored by his father, a Master Chef. This experience laid a strong foundation in customer service and business operations, skills he has carried throughout his career. (He also loves to cook)

Terry Yesaki

Treasurer

Terry has been a director of the society for over 10 years and currently holds the position of Treasurer. He helps manage the financial health of the society and endeavours to ensure resources are utilized effectively to maximize social impact. Terry is a CPA and the Chief Financial Officer of Prestige Hotels & Resorts. He has been a resident of Kelowna for 25 years and is a husband and proud father of two children.
