Unit 11: Understanding & Developing Policies

It is important, that YOU understand the purpose of all policies and permission forms, so you can explain this purpose to the parents (your clients).

It is also important that the information is understood by the parents. Your policies and consent forms MUST be discussed with parents, signed and returned BEFORE the child attends child care.

Before you accept children into your home it is important that you develop a Parent Package containing your policies and procedures.

A Parent Package includes all required forms and policies. It also contains information such as:

  • fees and payment schedule
  • operating hours
  • daily schedule of activities
  • vacation policy
  • information about trial periods and notices of termination
  • information about you, your training, certificates and experiences a statement about your philosophy

A Parent Package also includes:

  • the registration form
  • immunization record request
  • Parent / Child Care Provider Agreement (Contract)
